Burlington high schools Central, Pearson recommended for closure

More than 60 people packed the public gallery of a Halton District School Board meeting to hear trustees and senior staff lay the groundwork for a controversial plan that could see the closure of two long time high schools.

The board is battling declining enrolment because of demographics and shifting population growth that has led to some Burlington schools not meeting provincial standards for capacity. Now trustees are looking at a Program and Accommodation Review that could lead to schools closing.
