Monday is one of the busiest days of the year for postal workers across the country, with an estimated 3,400 parcels being delivered every minute.
Canada Post spokesperson Anick Losier said it is close to an historic day on P.E.I., and that increase is mostly due to a spike in online shopping.
“What we are seeing on P.E.I. is like that everywhere else in the country. We are seeing a lot more of online shopping and as a result Canada Post delivers two out of three parcels ordered online,” said Losier.
“We are seeing huge increases in volumes. For P.E.I., we are seeing about four times the number of parcels that we would have on any other time of year. So certainly very busy for our colleagues in P.E.I.”
