CUPE Worried About Community Mailbox Theft

THUNDER BAY – The Canadian Union of Postal Workers are concerned over the volume of mail being stolen out of community mailboxes.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers are also extremely worried about the residents’ privacy and community safety. CUPE says, “Canada Post has a duty to protect Canadians’ confidential information and must come clean on the extent of the theft problem”.

“Residents in Richmond, BC, have been affected by theft and vandalism to their community mail boxes. We know this is happening across the country, yet Canada Post refuses to come clean” said Mike Palecek, CUPW’s National President.

There have been issues across Canada. One concern some are raising is delivery of medical marijuana that is left in the Community Mailboxes.
