Out of the eight schools in the East Credit area involved in a Pupil Accommodation Review (PAR), one parent argues that St. Dunstan Elementary School appears to be the only one pegged for closure by staff.
Julia Belmonte, who represents St. Dunstan on the East Credit Accommodation Review Committee (ARC), pointed out the trend during a break at Monday night’s special delegation meeting, hosted by the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board.
The meeting was the first of three being held this week at the Catholic Education Centre where delegates are expressing to trustees why some schools – including St. Dunstan, Our Lady of Good Voyage, St. Gregory, St. Valentine, St. Raymond, St. Herbert, St. Gertrude and St. Bernadette – should be spared.
“The St. Dunstan community is feeling targeted,” Belmonte told The News.
“There’s no rhyme or reason why they’re selecting to only close our school in all the options.”
