Labour Ministry inspections continue at troubled construction site

A Toronto-area company building a natural gas-fired electricity plant on Oil Springs Line in St. Clair Township is set to be back in court Jan. 8.

Greenfield South Power Corporation was charged earlier this year under Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act with alleged failures to provide adequate worker training.

Janet Deline, a spokesperson for the Ontario Ministry of Labour, said the company is scheduled to speak to the charges at next week’s court appearance.

The troubled construction site has also been the subject of more than 200 orders issued by ministry inspectors.
