Mississauga Library Workers need your support

Your support is urgently needed!

Our Sisters and Brothers in Local 1989 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, workers at the Mississauga Library System have been on strike for 2 days. While the two sides had made progress on a some issues, several key issues remained unresolved when negotiations eventually broke down, including benefits for part-time employees, many of whom barely make over the minimum wage. This strike has resulted in the closure of all Mississauga Libraries.

Please join Peel District CUPE Council at the Mississauga Central Library (301 Burnhamthorpe Rd West) on Friday, July 8 at 1pm  for a rally to support our colleagues at CUPE Local 1989.

If you could RSVP if you have intentions of going. We are encouraging locals to donate in solidarity to the members of Local 1989 who have had no choice but to take a stand against there employer.

Come out and join Sister Candace Rennick and Brother Fred Hahn for a Solidarity BBQ with Local 1989 on Thursday, July 7 from 11:30am-12:30pm.
