More slots picketers clipped by vehicles outside racetrack

Getting clipped by vehicles isn’t what locked-out slots workers bargained for when they set up information pickets in front of the entrance to the racetrack because of their labour dispute with OLG Slots at Rideau Carleton Raceway.

But it has happened at least three times this week, including twice Friday, as patience appears to be wearing thin for some gamblers and other raceway employees.

“There were a couple of incidents where it was a bit more aggressive,” said Alroy Fonseca, a regional spokesman for the Public Service Alliance of Canada, the union representing 125 slots employees.
