Union officials representing Peel Children’s Aid Society (CAS) employees are heading to the picket lines.
Official strike action was taken at 12:01 a.m. on Sunday, September 18.
The union, representing 435 front-line support workers and administrative staff at Peel CAS, say the two sides have not met since the union rejected the final offer put on the negotiation table on Wednesday night.
“We haven’t heard from them since,” said Canadian Union of Public Employees Union (CUPE) Local 4914 president Sonia Yung.
She went on, the issues are not hinged on financial compensation, but continue to be about “safety, working conditions and respect.”
