Planning staff with the Peel District School Board have six schools on their radar with low student numbers.
The list was presented to trustees as part of an annual report at a physical planning and building committee meeting Wednesday night at the HJA Education Cente.
Defining low enrolment as schools running under 60 per cent capacity, staff named five schools in Mississauga and one in Caledon that fit the bill.
The lowest enrolment numbers in the board were at Alton Public School in Caledon, which is only at 44 per cent capacity.
Other elementary schools on the list include south Mississauga’s Clarkson and Riverside public schools that are 48 per cent and 56 per cent full, respectively.
TL Kennedy Secondary School has the smallest student population for Peel public high schools at 47 per cent, while both Erindale and Clarkson secondary schools are operating at 58 per cent.
The enrolment numbers were taken Sept. 30.
