Save Burlington Central HS parents support letter to minister against school closures

The parent group Save Burlington Central High School, has added its support to a letter written to the Ontario minister of education by the newly-formed Alliance Against School Closures.

The letter, sent to Mitzie Hunter Oct. 25, requests an immediate moratorium on school closures, a suspension of all pupil accommodation reviews and an all-party investigation into the effects of extensive school closures on the health of students and communities.

Save BCHS was formed after the Halton District School Board approved a Program Accommodation Review this month to deal with declining enrolment in Burlington secondary schools. The board’s preferred option is to close both Central and Lester B. Pearson, which has parents from both high schools rallying to save their neighbourhood schools.
