Union meets with CHCH workers to discuss options

The union representing CHCH employees has filed an application with the Canada Industrial Relations Board in an attempt to force the new company that hired some terminated workers to inherit past contractual obligations.

“At some point today, we filed with the CIRB a successor application to formalize our position that we are a successor and that it is a successor company, and that our union rights and our contract go with us,” Unifor national representative Liz Marzari said Friday.

The company has not seen Unifor’s successor application so it hasn’t responded yet, said Chris Fuoco, Channel Zero vice-president of sales and marketing, in an emailed statement.
