Worker killed after being struck by bus at oil refinery northeast of Edmonton

The bus had just dropped off workers at about 6:30 a.m. at the Redwater Sturgeon Refinery site when it struck the worker as he was crossing the street, said Christine Wronko, a spokeswoman with occupational health and safety. The bus was attempting to make a left-hand turn at the time, she said.

The man was taken to the University of Alberta hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The refinery is owned by North West Redwater Partnership. The company declined to say what the employee did or how long he worked there.
